7.5mo not interested in BF anymore

Hi, hoping for some advice / reassurance from anyone who’s been there before.

My 7.5mo DD has taken to weaning really well... obviously as a FTM I’m now anxious she’s taken to it too well (there’s always something to worry about isn’t there?)

We had a rocky start with breastfeeding but persevered and we’re still doing it now. But I think maybe because of our struggles she’s never been a particularly “booby” baby. She’s not given any obvious cues that she’s hungry since she was a newborn so I just tend to offer every couple of hours or so. She rarely feeds for more than a few minutes at a time.

She doesn’t seem interested in her morning milk feed anymore or her bedtime bottle but she absolutely gobbles up breakfast and dinner (haven’t introduced lunch yet).

She no longer feeds much overnight, just one feed around 5am. This is a relatively recent development since we did some gentle sleep training - so maybe I’m over-offering her the breast in the day to make sure she’s getting enough over 24 hours.

Everything I read says she should be getting her main nutrition from milk until 12 months though. Is she getting enough? I give her porridge in the morning either with breast milk or whole cows milk to make sure she’s getting plenty, then dinner is a usually a bit of whatever we’re having with some steamed finger food veggies. Generally some kind of small pasta or grains with veg and protein.

Thanks to anyone who’s read this far. I wish there was an instruction manual!!

If you're offering every 2 hours abs she's sleeping well at night, she is getting enough.

Everything sounds fine to me Smile

Normal from my experience, just keep offering. My son went through similar at 9 months and he fed until 2 1/2.

Ok thanks everyone, that’s good to know

It's quite normal to drop feeds once they start on food. My first quickly dropped to just bf on waking and at bedtime.

Normal! She’s getting enough if she’s settled and as you’re offering it enough she knows she has the choice. Well done! 😃

Hey OP sorry to disagree with previous posters but at this age you're right breastfeeding is their main source of nutrition and they shouldn't be scaling back at 7.5 months, more like 10/11 months perhaps.

I've been told that "nursing strikes" are quite common but it should pass, keep offering.

Ignore the previous poster, that’s nonsense.

The breastapo are all about keeping it natural - until the baby naturally weans at an earlier age than they’d like.

Sounds like you’re doing everything right
