Will someone please tell me what weaning cup to get?

I'm so confused. Please tell me what was good and bad about the cups you tried.

The best one for both mine was the cheap as chips tommee tippee 2 handled cup with lid and spout.

DD could use non spill cups so used those to avoid hassle of spilt drinks.

DS never got the hang of those types.

Anyway up cups were great for dd1 but dd2 couldn't manage, the tommee tippee ones worked best for her.

ta ladies. I am now sporting a smug grin as I'd already bought one of those but then decided as it was so cheap and so simple I'd done DD some great disservice. Clearly my motherly instincts are in top condition.

Note to self: mothercare are not trying to help you, they are trying to make money out of you.

Doidy cups are fab

Hi, 6mth old DS uses a boots own brand cup with lid and spout, it is really small with no handles so he can hold it well, he struggled with handles and bigger cups.

sorry to start this up again - and its good to hear which cups are the best - but HOW do you get your dd to drink from one ? Seriously.. any tips would be gratefully recieved!

have you got your babes to drink their milk from their cups yet (we are heading very quickly to 1st birthday and current advice is to wean off bottles.....hmmmmm. No chance!)

offer it with the meal and then leave it on the highchair tray for then to play about with, drip the water out of, etc and they might surprise you by even drinking from it too. It may take a few days for them to realise they need to suck a little which is why the free-flowing cups are good as it lets a little of the liquid out with no effort. My ds chewed the spout for a couple of days before realising what he needed to do with it.

my ds was off bottles by 10 1/2 months. I use the TT first cup for water and a large avent cup or cow patterned cup for milk.

DD still not interested after many many months of beaker offering!

if your lo is nearly 1 why not try offering a small drink of water from an open cup. My ds loves glugging out his TT first cup with the lid off but is a bit messy and that is why I only give him water in it!!

DS also likes drinking out of a straw - have you tried using a cup with a straw? - the novelty of it might just work.

Seona, we use the doidy cup and she does blow raspberries in it.... and sips and then spits it out at me !

I really can never see the day when she happily drinks milk from a cup or beaker !

I will try a straw.....

How did you do it ? I have been offering the beaker since five / six months, and frankly DD would rather die of thirst than drink from it.

I think dd (4) was a great incentive as anything she has he wants . He regularly pinches her sports cup, cartons of juice, etc and his own is never good enough. He would drink out of anything and it doesnt matter who it belongs to!!
