my dd had roasted butternut squash at about 24 weeks. She grabbed it in one fist and hurled herself at it, gnawing away in a v comical fashion!

whomovedmychocolate · 03/12/2007 20:33

Umm a bit before six months, spag bol, it was messy but she loved it - I think there is a profile pic of her eating it on Aitch's blog.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 03/12/2007 20:51

a baton of carrot, boiled until very soft
he was 6 months and a week
he held it in his fist, gnawed away at it, and made disgusted faces - but ate most of it whilst I took lots of photos

jorange5 · 03/12/2007 20:56

Not strictly food but... DD ate an empty sachet of sugar at 5 months.

It came out the other end all scrunched up but you could still read all the words on the packet

mummymagic · 03/12/2007 20:56

Just before 6 months. she shared some banana with me, seemed to go down well.

(now she doesn't really like banana )

suwoo · 03/12/2007 21:01

Steamed broccoli, 23 weeks and loved it. He's on youtube somewhere under BLW Noah 23 weeks or something like that.

marigirl · 03/12/2007 22:45

baby rice at 5 months, then avocado at 6 months

terramum · 03/12/2007 23:08

steamed carrot sticks at 29 weeks. He happily picked them up & munched although didn't swallow on that occasion...but we gave him the same thing the next day & he swallowed some this time.

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 03/12/2007 23:17

tutter, i can't believe your ds2 is getting old enough...

she nicked a peach. then apricot. there are pics on the blog, inevitably. then steamed carrot and broccoli and rice cakes and, er, pizza crusts...

WriggleJiggle · 03/12/2007 23:21

6 months, can't remember what it was, pretty sure it was curry or chilli, definately somthing spicy, but it was grabbed off my plate and stuffed in. We then let her grab whatever she wanted. Was all very easy that first time

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 03/12/2007 23:36

are you the same wrigglejiggle of corn cob fame? that's still my favourite photo on the blog (with whomoved's daughter a close second, natch. )

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2007 00:25

my DS is not on the blog

actually, we don't really deserve to be on it. He wants to eat far more food than I have the time to sit around watching him, so we do a mixture of me getting stuff into his mouth and him doing it (he YELLS if I don't give it to him fast enough)

I have never seen such a dustbin. He would eat forever I think

onelittlelion · 04/12/2007 01:06

A stolen bit of melon...

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 04/12/2007 01:28

heheheh mrsjc, that sounds hilarious... these are all the accommodations that we make in order to deal with the rest of the family. i don't imagine your dd takes very long to eat up, so whatever works. if you have any particularly lovely shots send them to my email and i'll put them onto the new site. aith at babyledweaning dot com.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2007 01:48

for lunch he has just eaten:
some pita bread
some cheese sandwich (kindly donated by DD
half an apple
most of a peach

for dinner he'll have a big old bowl of steamed veg, possibly with pasta and cheese, probably followed by yoghurt/banana. This is why I help him out - if we waited round for him to get all that into his gob we'd do little else

and he is still breastfeeding 3/4 times a day (and 2-3 times in the night, grrr)

He's ENORMOUS - long rather than particularly chubby.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 04/12/2007 02:14

oh and I sent oyu some photos just now but your babyledweaning.com address failed...my email bounced back

PrisonerCellBlockAitch · 04/12/2007 12:01

did it? hmmmm. will FB you.

WriggleJiggle · 05/12/2007 20:53

Ah yes Aitch, thats me. You wouldn't believe the obscure and unusual foods dd will now eat if we're having them. And you should hear her doting GPs proudly telling everyone about how dd 'never did that puree nonsense' and lecturing all new parents on the wonders of BLW! Watch out for corn on the cob part two in 4 and a half months!

Sputnik · 11/12/2007 18:06

Ok, we've been at it a week now...
DS is 25 weeks, so far we've done plums, pear, potato, cucumber and rice cakes. He's loving it
