Peanut

Hi,

Probably a super obvious question but how do I test peanut with my 7 month old? I live in France so can't get a peanut butter that wouldn't be salty...do you just go for it anyway? How? What kind of quantity? Or is there another way...?
(Also he has CMPA if that's relevant...!) confused and panicky - thanks so much!

I just used peanut butter on toast. Never checked the salt content tbh because it's such a small amount

JurassicShay · 01/08/2021 16:10

I did the same as above and didn't check the salt content either.

I would just put it on the lip. I speak as a parent with a D.C. with an anaphylactic allergy.

If you don't want to use peanut butter, you can grate a peanut onto a spoon. I followed the weaning and allergies guide from allergy UK due family history of anaphylactic allergy - day one, tiny amount, given early in morning. Watch carefully for reaction. Day two, ditto. Day three, larger amount. Ensure all other food is stuff they've had before in case of a reaction.

Thanks so much everyone for taking the time to comment...some great ideas and reassurance. I think I have ptsd from an anaphylactic shock I had ...(it was resulting from a medicine, not food though) which explains why I can't get a grip with this!
