How to encourage baby to suck a sippy cup?

Weaning is now going well (after a slow start) and this is a minor thing, but any advice welcome!

My dd (7 months) will lap/drink happily from a Doidy, but when ew're out and about it's not too practical. How can I encourage her to understand she must suck to spout? I have tried an Annabel Karmel traditional sippy cup and an Avent one, but she just sits with it in her mouth and does nothing. I have to take the top of and feed her the water like from a Doidy. It's a bit messy!

Will this just 'click'? She's exclusively bf so has never sucked from a bottle...Thanks.

I used the Tommee Tippee spouty cups that don't have a valve at all. Dd could never get the hang of how hard she had to suck with some of the other ones. The Tommee Tippee just needs her to lift the cup and it just flows out.

Alternatively (and probably better), just use a doidy cup, and take a small bottle of water with you to pour into it.
