wine in cooking?

sorry if this is a really stupid question, but I've cooked a beef stew, which had half a btl of red in it. It did come to boiling point first, then went in the oven for 3 hours, so is it ok to give some to DS (8.5mo) as the alcohol will have evaporated, or do I need reporting to the AA? I really don't know, any advice most appreciated. thanks.

I use wine in cooking, I think it's fine as long as it's properly cooked. Alcohol evaporates at 73 degrees if I remember rightly. I have wondered about this though, would like to hear from someone REALLY knowledgable

TBH I thought it all evaporated in cooking -at least I hope so or DD (3) and DS (15 mths) run the risk of being wino's before they hit reception year!

great thanks. It's a jamie recipe and slow cooked, so i did think surely after 3 hours there'd be none left!
