How to get over a choking incident?

How do you get over the anxiety after a choking episode?

My little girl is 8 months; I gave her finger sized pieces of banana and she shoved a whole one in somehow. She gagged which I expected but some must have slid down and she started choking.

She's fine now but I feel awful and dreading the next meal time 😭

That must have been a bit scary. How are you both getting on now?

Thank you for asking @BunnyRuddington Flowers

We're doing ok! I've just been giving her smaller bits of food she can grab off her plate and keeping to less slippy finger foods for now like little fish croquets. Still very nervous but slowly getting there!

We had one where it was a proper choke and he had a panic face. I couldn't get him out of his bumble seat fast enough so I flipped him over for back blows, seat and all.

After I righted him, we got right back to it and he actually prefers feeding himself most of the time to me giving purées.

I'm afraid that as scary as it is, you have to persevere with it. It's a rite of passage as parents as much as it is for them.

Hang in there! Thanks

So glad you've managed to get over it and your LO is enjoying finger foods again Smile
