Weaning 6m old with reflux

DS was EBF for 4months, now on anti-reflux formula. Was doing great on the formula! Gone from bringing stuff back up after every bottle to maybe once a day. Started weaning a couple of weeks ago - combination approach so serving purées alongside finger foods (currently once a day). But since starting weaning the reflux seems to be back to as bad as ever 😓
Anyone that’s weaned a refluxy baby, did this get better once their wee belly got used to solid foods? He had an awful time on infant gaviscon so not wanting to try switching back to that with normal formula. He doesn’t seem uncomfortable (although now sleeps on his belly which may be more comfortable than his back), just seems to be constantly bringing stuff back up.

Not sure whether it’s worth persevering for another week or so or if I should be going back to the gp to get omeprazole or something to try?

I was told to wean at 5 months for my DD’s reflux and it did indeed make it worse. It got better around 7 months when she wasn’t eating the thin purées and more lumpy food. I’d avoid certain foods that can make reflux worse like anything acidic - I found banana to flare my DD’s reflux up as well.

@Vicky1989x I seen stuff online about weaning early due to reflux but we were never advised to. Although we’ve barely seen HV etc due to covid.
I did think that the purées etc were probably at least partially to blame. Maybe the water he’s getting with his meal too? I’ve just done 2 weeks of first tastes with veggies etc and he’s taken to it SO we’ll so I’ll move on to some more textured foods rather than super smooth and see if that makes any difference. I don’t want to jump straight to medications If there’s a good chance it’ll settle back down again

@KM38 I was told to by a paediatrician as she was 5 months by the time I finally got referred to one 🙄
I did find cold water didn’t help, I usually gave her cooled boiled water so not cold, just a little warm which worked better.
That’s good he’s taken to it so well! Just see how he goes, it might just be his stomach adjusting. Is he teething at all? I found my DD’s reflux flared up super bad while she’s teething.

I’ve been doing cooked boiled water but leaving it until it’s pretty much cold so will try it slightly on the warmer side. He is going through a particularly bad patch of teething actually!! Maybe it’s just all having a bit of an effect on him at the moment!
