Yay! My 9.5mo has suddenly started getting the hang of finger food!

After 3 months of just not seeming to get the point of finger food, something just seemed to click and now he's scoffing it down - has so far had 2 toast fingers, half a banana and some chees slices, with barely any help from mummy!

Congratulations! My 9.5mo can do finger food, but seems not to see the point in that she will have a couple of bites then look for something else to play with. Any tips on how you did it?

well done baby Jack!

Anna, we basically tried loads of different sized food pieces to find that size that he seems to get along with best. He didn't seem to get the idea of biting a mouthful off a larger piece, but as soon as his hand-eye co-ordination got good enough for him to pick up a smaller piece that he could put in his mouth whole and chew, he suddenly seemed to get it! Combined with lots of "look, mummy is eating it too, yum yum!" type encouragement. Nothing you haven't already tried, i'm sure!

Tried the smaller pieces thing and seems to work quite well - she ate a whole rice cake. She can hold and bite bits off a whole one; maybe it's just easier this way? Anyway, thanks
