I've just started weaning and I'm doing purées. He probably actually swallows 1% of it and 99% of it ends up on his bib. A lot of it is spat and dribbled out. Is this normal? Is this stage more about just the experience for him or should he be consuming it for the health benefits? I don't want him malnourished due to my terrible weaning skills!

How old is he? This is what they do really....mine messed about till over one year old as I remember. Give him something to hold in his hand maybe?

I think his age is really important. If you are weaning at 4 months and he's barely swallowing then there's no issue.

Also, I'd judge how much he's actually swallowing by his nappies. Babies can look like they've eaten very little but the poo can tell you a different story Smile

If LO is 6 months are you offering finger foods along with the purées?

DocsOddSocks · 07/07/2021 22:38

@merrynelly I was wondering this as my daughter is this same. She's 5 months.

Have the nappies changed at all @DocsOddSocks?

As I said, I used to think that mine weren't eating anything but when you looked in the nappies, it was obvious that they'd been eating something Smile

@BunnyRuddington Sadly not Sad We'll keep trying Smile I know its before the recommended age but she drinks so much already!!
