Cutlery for 14 months old

Hi everyone

This might be a daft question but what kind of cutlery should I buy for my 14mo old? We've been using the same soft tip spoons from six months and need to get some new ones. It suddenly occurred to me that perhaps there are more suitable options as little ones get older and more adept at using spoons. She's getting pretty good at feeding herself using a spoon and a fork, although I still do most of the feeding overall.

Can anyone recommend what I should go for? Should I stick to plastic or is metal OK/preferable at 14 months?

We got ikea plastic cutlery for ours when little - used now for picnics etc, then from around 2 got the small cutlery set from Lakeland.

I gave my dc metal cutlery once I felt they were co-ordinated enough not to jab themselves in the cheek. Also, once they had learned how to extract food off of a spoon in a semi-human way and not gnaw or chomp at it, as metal would be too hard on their teeth and gums. It was probably about 18 months or so.

I got the wee plastic handle metal set you get for kids. Normally get knife, fork and spoon

We bought these for DD when she was about a year old and we still have them even though she is almost 15. Thanks everyone. I'll probably get both plastic and metal/plastic and see how she gets on.

I got Doddl cutlery, pricey but amazing! Metal ends but ergonomic plastic handles. DS got the hang of the fork in a couple of days at 1 year when he'd never managed with a plastic one.
