Before you all shout me down for weaning early, I have been under strict instructions by paed. to wean at 4 months. Deliberated long and hard about it and in the end took his advice.

Now obviously I want to take it v slowly - does anyone have an appropriate weaning schedule they could replicate here?

DS still on small amount of baby rice once a day (is day 6 today). Not sure of best way to go from here (and frankly it terrifies me!)

oh, yes, thanks SuperMonkey - HV gave me that leaflet actually (incidentally, she also adised me to wean now.. hmm..)

keepyourpuppydaviesindoors -Thanks! might try the mashing thing..see what happens!, or might not. err, might err on side of caution and use blender..

I used a blender, DS has only now started to tolerate any kind of lumps in his food after 6 weeks!

heh i guess i'd psyched myself up to blw so when it turned out we weren't going to make it that long i figured there was no harm in seeing what she made of stuff that wasn't totally smooth. plus have you ever tried blending half a pear? it's tricky

coleyboy · 04/11/2007 23:06

I would defo speak to the paed about how to wean.

I shouldn't worry about giving your child a sweet tooth. Breastmilk is sweet, so lo's are used to sweet.

AitchTwoOh · 04/11/2007 23:42

don't worry about the sweet thing, like coleyboy says BM is very sweet.

MrsHarry · 04/11/2007 23:57

Should I worry??? I've tasted my breastmilk...I didn't think it was sweet at all!!!!

Yes, BM is sweet, good point. MrsHarry - is your lo drinking it ok? I ask bc one of my friends had to stop bfing bc her milk went a bit weird..
(bought organic pears today)

Yup, no problems with her wanting my milk....maybe it's naturally weird and she's got used to it!!
Or it could have been something I ate, dodgy curry or something. Perhaps I'll express and give it another go...
Watch this space!!

oh sorry i thought you were kidding. if you spill it, is it sticky? i don't remember thinking it was enormously sweet when i tasted it, but if it spilled it stuck like melted ice cream.
