6 months when the baby is showing all the signs of readiness. This website has alot of information about weaning. I found it a good place to start.

Ive started my 4 and half month old on baby rice, and some banana and apple purée over the past couple days. Last night I realised she was extremely hyper after eating the banana and apple purée and she usually sleeps through the night from 21:30-6:30 has a bottle then goes back to sleep till about 10/11... last night she was so wriggly and woke about 5 times... no idea why

All between 18 and 24 weeks.

Sorry I thought you were asking at what age I started. The UK advice is around 6 months. The EU advice is between 4 and 6 months. For most babies there is very little benefit to weaning before 6 months. It is safe to do so from four months. I weaned before 6 months because I am anemic and was worried my babies weren’t getting enough iron from my breast milk.
