Breakfast timing..

I'm just properly starting weaning this week and am not sure how to work breakfast in.. as far as I can tell from reading other posts, most people give a milk feed approx an hour before any solids BUT my breastfed baby still wakes to feed through the night and often feeds around 5am. I have to leave for work at 8.30am and dh leaves him with my mum at 9.15am.. she would rather not do feeding until it is more established and, besides, has no highchair or anywhere else to put him if she was to feed him.

So what's the best way to work this?

why not concentrate on the other meals first? If you have just started weaning then you dont have to start breakfast right now anyway - plenty of time for that in the weeks to come.

Or, if it is breakfast you are starting with then give your lo something when you have breakfast. Think of giving solids as an 'activity' unrelated to the milk. It doesnt matter when you give the milk in relation to solids - you could even give it straight after a feed if you wanted. When I did breakfast with my ds he had his milk around 7am and then breakfast around 7.45/8am along with me and dd. Work it in to suit you and your lo, it doesnt matter what anyone else does.
