Why not give formula after 12 months?

What is the actual reason that they recommend that you replace formula with full fat cows milk at 12 months? Is it to save money? They have the same calorie and fat content, but full fat milk has more protein. Formula has more added vitamins and minerals.
Or is it just because of teeth/not using a bottle?

The age to progress on to real milk in a sippy cup
A progression of your child no longer being a baby who may be able to stomach full milk with a balanced diet.
Depending on your child and diet/ Preference we never used vitamins until school age.

They do advise some vitamins once on below 500mls of formula, they are specific ones rather than a multivit, I just get them in the drop format and it's no bother, some of the liquids are pretty grim though I think!

Its vitamins A,C and D that's advised from 6 months to age 5 when formula intake is under 500mls. Vitamin D is advised from birth if they are breast fed.

My child's been on cows milk for over 6 months and I had no idea about the vitamins. Is there a specific brand he should be taking? How often? Things like this just annoy me as a health visitor hasn't seen him in nearly a year because of Covid and stuff like this shouldn't be slipping through the cracks. I hope I haven't given him some deficiency. I'm

@Seeyouin2025 if you're anything like me you will feel bad about it, but please don't! You won't have caused anything long term, and I live by the motto that we do the best we can with what we know, and if you didn't know then you didn't know. I agree though it is outrageous how new mums have been abandoned during this pandemic, and plenty arent aware of the recommendation to give vitamins. There are quite a few brands and all more or less the same except for taste- I like the drops as I find them much easier to give.
