7 month old - milk before or after food?

I’ve been weaning my DD since she was 5 months (advised by paediatrician due to reflux) and she’s currently having 2 meals a day. I know she’s ready for a 3rd but she hasn’t dropped her 3rd nap yet so it’s hard to fit it in!

Anyway, I’m confused as to whether I should be offering food before or after milk now that she’s 7 and a half months.

Currently her schedule is:-

7am: 6oz bottle
8am: Breakfast
9:30am: Nap
11am: 6oz bottle
12pm: Lunch
1/1:30pm: Nap
3pm: 6oz bottle
4/4:30pm: 30 min catnap (want to give dinner here ideally)
6:30pm: 7oz bottle
7pm: Bed

Should I continue like this or offer food before milk? She’s a small baby (only 3lb 9oz when born - about 16lb now) and she recently dropped her night feed so I’m worried if I offer food first she’ll drop more milk, but everyone keeps telling me to offer food first!

I’m feeling very overwhelmed and I’m going back to work in January so I just wanna get this right!

Sounds absolutely fine what you're doing. She's only 7 months so it's still early transition stage. When the later nap drops and there is time then you'll fit dinner in. Fwiw I gave mine milk with food so they decided for themselves. They weaned differently but all done by 12months. The main thing is that you're doing it, she is exploring and tasting new flavours and experiencing new textures, and she's not hungry!

Sounds fine. My 7month is on 3 meals a day now though.

I don’t think she sounds tiny, mine was 8lb8 born and now at 7 months is 17lbs ( was weighed today at doctors), and they said his growth was fine. So 3lb to 16lb sounds perfectly normal

Our routine has no fixed before or after routine. He’s breastfed so can’t give amounts. Usually something like

7am milk
8.30am breakfast
10-12am milk
1pm lunch
2-6pm - 1 or 2 milk feeds
6pm dinner
7.30-8pm milk

He feeds 2-4 times overnight still as well

Thank you both, will just keep doing what I’m doing! Just get frustrated when people keep telling me to drop her milk and give her more food. I’m sure she’ll drop milk when she’s ready.

She’s been a great eater so far (purées and finger foods) and has eaten everything I’ve offered so will take her lead. Smile
