BLW - anyone else's lo storing food?

So ds really likes his broccoli and grabs enthusiastically for it, only the last couple of meals I've noticed he starts to fuss anxiously after a couple mouthfuls, and sounding curiously muffled. So I inspected and found he was shoving all the broccoli up into the roof of his mouth and leaving it there!

At lunch yesterday I gave him a bit of a clearout (niiiiiice) but buggerme, when we got home 1.5hrs later, dh found he STILL had some stashed away in there!

He didn't do this the first couple of times, any clues?

yes - this may be prob as he seems to think he needs to grab them ALLLLL. Because the child is half-starved fgs

just give one at a time and make sure he eats it then give more.

DD does this with food she loves. She shovels as much in as possible then, when her mouth is too full, it comes out again and she picks it up piece by piece and eats it. Niceeeeeeeeeeee!

we've sort of tried that bom - will try harder - but so far it produces "OHMIGOD YOU'RE TRYING TO TAKE MY FOOD AWAY" screeches of rage/frustration.

Red he hasn't done that yet - but I do sometimes pick up the less mangled bits and offer them again

just worried about the stuff stored in the roof of his mouth, that could be dangerous if he goes back to playing on the floor after a meal?

dont take it away, just feed it bit by bit.

by "take away" I mean, "hold just out of his reach". if he can reach it, it goes IN. (caught him trying to eat the picnic rug this morning...)

holding just out of his reach might be teasing a bit, can you set it on the table away and reach over for a bit when he needs it. I know it may sound silly, but it might not bother him so much.

will try, but he's so busy trying to go places these days - yesterday when I moved his tucker he squirmed furiously trying to get (pant) to (pant) it (pant). He is so funny these days, knows what he wants and determined as all get-out...

Where is he when you feed him??

We don't have a table/chairs so he's been sitting on my lap on the floor. Yesterday we were out, in a cafe, hence the attempt to climb across the table.

Have you got a bouncy chair or a walker or something to put him in. Much easier if they are strapped into something. Or a hhighchair, you can get ones that fold away quite nicely.

Then you can put one ata time on the tray and he can help himself, which they find interesting, and fun.

highchair is already on The List. (sigh)

PHD - Get this one! 'Tis cheap, cheerful has a detachable tray and you can hose it down! No seams for the food to get into.

We bought a more expensive one intitially but ditched it in favour of this one.

thanks Red, I looked at the Ikea ones but it has got to be foldable - we have so little space!

was actually thinking I might get one of those ones that clips onto the side of the table.

Oh! NO, it was the Hauck folding one. £20 plus P&P

The legs come off the ikea one PHD ans you can stash it in quite small spaces (ours usually lives behind the telly)
