BLW 11 month old wants to spoonfeed herself not interested in finger food

Arghhh... Realised my DD wants to spoonfeed herself and is not interested in finger food at mealtimes (ok for snacks) anymore as she finds trying to spoon food inside herself great fun and entertaining. I think she has found meal times boring and this has contributed to her to not eating much solids - spoonfeeding herself entertains her (and has redecorated my walls nicely).

So far fish or veg in cheese sauce is going down well. Some pasta okay. Casseroles either as finger food or cut up is a big no no - god do you think I'll have to puree them.

I have the queen of contrariness and fussy eating it feels. She is very easily bored - she'll love a food for 2 weeks then refuse to eat it etc....

Any ideas of what I can make up that will stay on the spoon?

Give me strength...

try using a fork. its easier to use cos they stab it and it stays on.

ds likes the fork as well. if he finds it hard I help him stab something then he guides it to his mouth. he sometimes waves his fork and grunts as if to say 'help me please' - quite cute!!

Tink has not long started using the spoon all the time. She holds it out and goes "Mum, MUM, MUM!" until I scoop something up for her (holding her hand of course) then she puts it in her mouth and does it again. She wants to eat everything with a spoon and it's not always practical, for example she eats curry with a spoon and is fine with the rice/ curry sauce mix, but when she wants to pick up chicken with it she throws the chicken because she turns the spoon rather than putting it in her mouth!

my daughter likes to self-spoon feed

cottage pie, fish pie, risotto, dahl, baked potato, scrambled eggs, curries all go down well, without too much spillage. Any sorts of pasta and sauce - but replace spaghetti with macaroni or conchiglini.

deffo try a fork, the ones with metal prongs are great.

also, at around that age dd liked her food cut up small, so try doiing that too. easier to spoon and fork but also more interesting to pick up. i'd got into the mindset of finger food but she'd kinda got beyond that stage and i hadn't noticed.

Will cut up the food small and hope that works, will also buy a fork so she can try and spear things.
