DD won’t eat from a spoon?

Hello, just looking for a bit of advice.

DD is nine months old now and weaning is going well. She’s on three meals a day. With all her meals I give her finger food to practice self-feeding, but she’s not brilliant at it yet and she can’t eat as much as she needs by herself, so I also feed her. However, increasingly she will refuse to eat off a spoon, but will happily let me feed her with my hands. This morning she refused her weetabix after a few mouthfuls and then happily ate the whole lot when I fed it to her with my hands!! It’s like she tolerates it for a while but then can’t be bothered with it anymore. Unless it’s yoghurt, of course, then she’s all about the spoon!

Having my hands covered in weetabix felt like a bit of a low point, so I thought I’d ask if this is unusual? I don’t really mind feeding her like this - as long as she eats and she’s happy, I’m happy! Given that we can’t go anywhere it doesn’t seem like much of a problem at the moment. But I’m not sure if this is normal? Or if I should be doing more to encourage her to eat from a spoon? Is it even really a problem? I think it’s unlikely I’ll still be doing this when she’s 15...

I have tried a small metal spoon, a silicone baby spoon, and a silicone self feeding spoon.

Thanks in advance Smile

My Dd also refused a spoon and quickly after all attempts to feed her.

I think you may need to trust her to feed herself enough and see how they goes Smile
