Does anyone elses baby only eat when you aren't watching?

DS (11m) seems to have developed a thing about me sitting at the table with him! He only seems to eat if I have my back to him, which is great for doing the washing up but not great for trying to interrupt him pouring his milk everywhere but in his mouth etc...

Anyone else have a shy dc?

My dd did this although rather than shyness I think she just didn't want to do what I was asking of her. Rather she ate because it was her idea.

It didn't last but she asserts herself in different ways now (almost 2). For example she chooses what to wear and who can help in into her car seat. Small things but it gives them some control.
