She has free access and will have the odd swig but really goes for it at meal times. I'm just wondering if she's particularly thirsty or if that sounds about right.

Baby at that age should be having at least 20 ounces of fluids a day. My DD can't get enough either- it's allgood. Just cherish the time until they start getting an opinion and demanding fruit shoots(wink)

Sounds a lot to me. DS (same age) drinks about 5oz water per day.

My dd was the same - she will be 2 in a couple of weeks and will still down a large cup/glass of water with a hearty 'ahhh'.

She thinks she's the luckiest kid as she's allowed as much water as she wants.

Seona1973 · 18/10/2007 22:19

I think the 20oz includes all fluids i.e. milk, water, milk in cereal, etc. ds has a beaker of water offered with meals and after his naps - sometimes he takes a little, sometimes a lot. 20oz is around 600mls

Seona1973 · 18/10/2007 22:20

although up till 1 year they are supposed to have the equivalent of 20oz of milk inclusive of milk in cereal, dairy products, etc

The trouble is that I have no idea what she takes in breast milk but fluid wise she's definitely getting enough as she's not dehydrated but she does seem to drink far more water than the others! I hope she's not diabetic....!!

ds doesn't drink any water unless it's really hot. he has 3 bottles of milk a day and that seems to be enough for him. don't want him to fill up on water instead of milk/food.
