DS started to refuse spoon

I have a 9 month old son who is having 3 meals a day and will eat pretty much anything I put in front of him (for now - I know it can all change lol) he’s been having a mixture of mashed up and finger foods and up until the last couple of weeks or so he has been happy for me to feed him mashed food from a spoon. He has started refusing to let me feed him. He’ll either grab for the spoon himself or grab food from the bowl, so do I let him crack on and feed himself (soooo messy 😩) or try to encourage him to let me feed him

Try a bit of both, let him have a spoon and see if you can feed him too. And I would give him finger foods as well.

Definitely go for the two spoon approach! While he’s faffing about trying to work it you can be shovelling stuff in and leave him some of what’s on the bowl to practice with. Yes it’s messy but put him someplace with a wipe clean floor or put a mat down. All part of the fun finding bits of veg in their ears, hair everywhere

I don't remember feeding DS too much myself, maybe when he first started solids then I just left him with the food and he worked it out by spoon or fingers.

We stuck a shower curtain under the high chair

My daughter did this. I gave in and let her feed herself and went a more BLW route (which I didn't want to do) I hated the mess but it got better quite quickly
