One year old suddenly refusing food

Hello everyone,
Our DD turned 1 last Sunday. For the last two weeks or so she gradually started refusing solid food.

We started weaning since she was six months. She was never an avid eater but would taste different solid foods. We used to feed her (mostly porridge or pureed foods) until recently she is refusing to take anything from us turning her face or blocking with hands. She also likes to eat finger foods by her own.

Last one week it has been extremely difficult for us to feed her. Not only refusing food from us but she would eat tiny amount of finger foods that she liked before. She is not having a proper meal. She is mainly breastfed but used take one bottle of formula milk a day. She is refusing that bottle too. She is always having breast milk every now and then (I don't have to give her, she starts having them by own).

We are really distressed, as after 1 yr breast milk alone is not sufficient for growth. It's really hard to explain what we are going through. Any suggestions/advice would be really helpful.

Babies and toddler often go through these phases. Generally it happens when they are teething.

I wouldn't worry, but then I'm not a worrier/anxious parent. When babies are hungry, they will eat.

See if you can give them some vitamin drops?

Then maybe just give your HV a call in a few weeks if it persists

Oh and I would also, although I'm not saying you are, try not to make a fuss.

We offer food but if DS says no, we take it away. He just gets given it again at the next mealtime when he is hungry. No stress and no fuss

Thanks for the reply.

We did call HV, and she mentioned development of personality/teething could be possible reasons. DD has eight teeth, however, she tends to chew her thumb quite often. We started giving her wellbaby vitamin since six months.

As I mentioned earlier, she seems to find breast milk only source of her food. :(

I honestly wouldn't worry
DS is 2 and has only just begun eating full/proper meals
