He's been sitting on my knee trying to eat his toys while I was eating a banana, he was looking at me so longingly and trying to grab it so I broke off a piece of let him hold it (it kept slipping out of his hand though ) so I helped him hold it, went straight to the mouth, gnawed on the end of it, a piece came off, he looked , swallowed it (and looked slightly suprised LOL), and then gave me a huge grin and tried to grab it again.

So - with a little assistance from me he's had a tiny bit of "first food" - DH still isn't keen on the idea of BLW but I'm prepared to give it a go, and yes we're a little early so the grabbing small things and getting into mouth reasonably well still not quite there (and he's little younger than 6 months ) - but if he's happy to have a go at little bits and pieces (with a bit of assistance) then I think we're off!

excellent! the main thing is he sounds like the gag reflex has gone, so watch your meals from now on! I tend to have a bar of choc most days when I take DS out for a walk, which was fine in the beginning, but now he stares at it every day and I think I'm going to have to give up the habit unless I want him turning into a chocoholic too!

yes the first little bit he swallowed he looked like he gagged a little, but the 2nd and 3rd swallows were ones of pure delight LOL.
