Pushing food away

Hey!
The last couple of days we decided to try my 5 1/2 month baby with some baby porridge (as he was showing lots of signs of wanting food and we discussed it with his hv).

He pushes the porridge away with his mouth and pulls faces not to let the spoon in, although when he is holding the spoon he will put it in his mouth but gets upset when he tastes the porridge.

Do you think he is not ready? Or that he maybe Doesn't like porridge 🤷‍♀️ and to try him with something else?

Thanks! X

He may not be quite ready but I think he’s nearly 6 months you may as well carry on. I started my daughter on puréed fruit and veg at 5 1/2 months and I was SO STRESSED about the fact that she wouldn’t put the spoon in her mouth at all. This went on for months 🙈 I had slightly more success with baby led weaning as she liked being in control of the finger food , but honestly - she didn’t really ate anything close to a ‘portion’ until she was one!!! I know it’s really stressful as it was our first time and I remember the anxiety of prepping all the food and worrying if she was getting enough etc. In hindsight now I wish I’d just chilled out a bit and accepted she’d eat when she’s ready! Good luck x
