Moving from breast to bottle - how much formula?

Hi,

I’m gradually weaning my 7 month old on to formula, I’m just wondering how many oz’s she should be getting a day. She is a snacker and I’m sometimes only getting 2ozs into her at a time, max 4.

Im still feeding her myself about 4 times a day including night feeds but I’m afraid to drop down more in case she doesn’t eat enough. I’d say she’s getting about 10ozs of formula currently over 3 or 4 feeds.

What times are you breast feeding and when are you formula feeding? Are you topping up or trying to do full feeds of each method?

@SeaToSki I’m doing the night feed myself (around 3am) then once she wakes, I give her formula around 11am, breastfeed at about 2pm, formula at 5pm, breastfeed at bedtime (usually around 7) then a dream feed with formula at about 10pm.

I remember Gina Ford had a calculation on how many oz of formula per pound of baby. If you can get hold of one of her books, you could do the calculation for 24 hrs, then divide by the total number of feeds (inclu breast). Then use this for each formula feed and if she is still hungry add another oz until you have it balanced right
