quick question - vege mince ok as a one off for 8m old?

hv said not until 1yr but we don't have much in the cupboards and i was going to do a spagetti bolognaise....

mine ate quorn mince with no ill effects from a little younger than yours if that is any help - but no expert.

I think stuff like quorn etc often has a lot of salt IIRC.

oh yes, i didn't think of that. I'll check the packet first. Made the dinner now but was saving a bit for dd's lunch tomorrow!

I have heard (think it was on here) not to give quorn to under 2's.

I have waited until ds is 2, and now he is, I'm still a little bit unsure whether to give him it or not.

quorn gives a lot of grown up people the fearful shits, and it's got dubious origins too - I remember the Mushroom Council successfully sued them for describing their product as being "mushroom in origin" whereas in fact it's some kind of laboratory-grown fungus or something. I wouldn't feed it to a baby anyway, because it can have such unpredictable effects.

If it's not quorn - if it's a soy-based mince - then is fine, I should think.
