Breastfeeding morning and night - what in between?

Soon to be 1 year old....I currently breastfeed them about 5 times a day (morning, before both naps, mid afternoon and bed). I want to reduce this to just morning and evening. Do I need to offer her cows milk alongside these 2 breastfeeds? I keep reading babies don't need cows milk. She eats 3 good meals a day. Thanks.

Technically a 1 year old doesn't need cows milk, they do need the fats, vitamins, iodine, etc... found within it. Cows milk is just a very efficient way to get good amounts of these things into a child.

If I did give her cows milk then how much would she need if I was giving her a morning and bed time feed?

Does she eat well? Mine did so I didn’t worry about replacing bf with milk. Just offered water frequently to keep her hydrated.

Yes she loves her food and eats three big meals a day.

I would just be worried about her not getting enough calcium and if I need to make a conscious effort of how much she's getting

Hi OP, I’m not there yet with my baby but a friend of mine showed me this a couple of days ago. Attaching in case it’s useful to you

I could never get DS1 to drink cows milk when I went back to work so he just ate food and drank water in the day. He often had porridge made with cows milk for breakfast, cheesy pasta and a yoghurt for pudding after lunch so he got calcium in that way. He was also keen on broccoli which I think is a good calcium source.

1 to 3 year olds need 350mg of calcium a day. My little one is same age as your but feeds way more often, including at least twice overnight. I’m not looking at reducing bf yet due to her allergies. I can’t find out from any one, including LLL and paediatric dietitian an estimate of how much calcium she is currently getting and when I need to supplement it.
