Refusing bottles

Hoping to get some ideas and set my mind at ease.

My little boy is 6 months old next week, he's been having baby porridge for the last week and his first veg tastes, just tiny tiny spoonfuls so not replacing milk, he's formular fed due to supply issues.

After his 16 week jabs he became fussy at the bottle and dropped from 36oz a day to 24/30 I've tried not to worry as the nappys are still nice and full and he's still gaining weight and height along his curve and hitting milestones.

However the last 3 weeks he started crying halfway through a bottle and refusing to finish, I've managed a few dream feeds but he's only taliking 20/24oz a day and I'm getting panicky.

I do think he's got a tooth bud coming, so have given the powder or gel an hour before feeding but he still refuses.

I've tried changing the teat from 2 to 3 but he full on screamed for 3 hours and spluttered so changed them back.

I'm just worried he'll starve or dehydrate, he's the same with water, he takes the small amount of foods okay.

Do I up the solids? If so any kcal rich home made recipes you recommend? Or is this just a teething phase do you think?

My health visitor hasn't seen or been in touch since he was 10 weeks, covid, and the number rings our 😔.

Hi how did you get on with this? I'm currently experiencing this with my little one, since having porridge of a morning she's not interested in her lunch bottle. She also has the bud of a tooth coming through and like your little one she had her 16wk jabs a few days ago.

If she's 16 weeks and teething I'd just stop the porridge Poppet. It's much more important that she has her milk than the porridge at this age.

Have you tried her with a teething gel like Dentinox before her bottle too and some Calpol?

She's 21 weeks she had her 16 week injection late lol. Yeah I was thinking that about cutting out the porridge as you said her milk is her main diet at the moment and don't want her substituting it for a small amount of porridge. Yeah I've tried teething powders she's actually not too bad other than refusing her bottle.
