cows milk

We are just getting our DS on to cows milk instead of formula as he is very close to being 1. We started by adding 1/2 formula to 1/2 cows milk and gradually stopped putting the scoops of formula in so it is now half water half milk.

So my question is do I keep watering the cows milk down as my aunty insists I have to or do I just give it to him how it comes?

TIA

give it how it comes, why would you water it down? they need the full fat milk for at least another year.

I would just give the cows milk. Formula is modified cows milk anyway. The water isn't needed. If you think about it watering down the cows milk is just reducing its nutrition.

Thats what I thought but my aunty insisted that it has to be watered down half and half or it is too strong and thats what she was told to give my cousins. I did say that surely that is no different to semi skimmed but she said its not.

Thats why I thought I would ask here.

Thank you

my aunt gave her kids skimmed milk cos she didn't want them getting fat - but they were the sickliest snotty kids going!

i think there were a lot of myths about things like milk in the past.

no need to water down cows milk - just give it straight from the bottle/carton (warmed if desired)

Thank you again, I don't really have anyone around that I can ask for advice. This just didn't sound right so I thought Id get a second opinion.
