I feel like I’m constantly feeding!

Just need some advise even though I’m aware there is no right or wrong way!

LO is just 6 months and on 3 meals a day, due to him not being interested in finger food it’s all purée food but I think no sooner I’ve finished feeding him in getting him next meal ready! For example

7am - 7oz bottle
10am - porridge with 5oz bottle
1pm - x5 ice cubes worth of veg plus dessert
4pm - 7oz bottle ( not always)
6:30pm - 5 ice cubes worth of veg plus dessert
8pm - 7oz bottle

Someone told me to keep feeding until he stops opening his mouth but I scared he won’t stop as he’s always been a greedy baby! Confused

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

It 's fine but I would definitely remove the dessert. He doesn't need it and definitely not twice a day

Thank you! I will take one out, it’s hard just knowing what’s satisfying him, I would like to do BLW but he’s not interested in holding food.

It may be he needs to develop the pincer grip which should come in a couple of months. I'd just carry on and keep offering chopped up bits of your food now and then.

I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the trauma to his arm during birth to which he’s under physio for, his arm was trapped in my pelvis and has to undergo x-rays at birth for, he will hold food but isn’t interested into putting it to his mouth yet his hand is always in his mouth! He loves his food and gets excited when he sees his high chair, maybe he prefers someone else to do it for him who wouldn’t (lol) Grin

Very few babies who do BLW actually eat anything at the beginning. For some it is 6 weeks or so before they eat anything. It's about them exploring the textures etc.

There is nothing wrong with you feeding him. He enjoys the spoon, great! go for soups, soupy risottos to increase the variety of vegetables.

I would just put some finger food on the tray too, just put it there, don't make any point of it, he may eventually just start playing with it and then over time experiment with putting it in his mouth and effectually eating.

There's no harm in leaving off one of the pureed meals and only offer finger foods. You may find his motivation to try and get it increases with out puree on offer

Amazing!
You're obviously doing something right! Keep dropping those milk feeds and keep going with the food.
Well done x
