Dinner & Pudding?

Hi,

My daughter is almost 6 months and we've been doing one meal a day for the last 2 weeks.

The thing is - she likes the sweet meals better than the veg meals. I was wondering if anyone has tried to give veg first and then fruit after, like dinner and pudding?

Not sure if this is a good thing to do or not, what did you do?

hello - he would only eat the fruit options for a while. He would scrunch his face up and completely reject savoury for a while. I think the turning point was carrot and sweetcorn as that's quite sweet and then we managed to slowly introduce veg / lentil / meat options.

I wouldn't worry about 2 courses at this stage, its more about tasting different things and getting used to the process I think...

as she's getting to 6 months she'll be able to feed herself so you'll open up more options for savouries. roasted veg is nice and sweet, try parsnips, courgette, swede.

Mine went almost exclusively for fruit for a while - I would always offer sweet and savoury at the same time (finger food) and she would favour the fruit, then a bit of savoury and then go back and forth. Interesting that she didn't tend towards savoury and then fruit and would also eat savoury having had some sweet etc..... It's only our culture that dictates the two courses in that order. Left to their own devices, our LOs seems to eat 'smart' i.e. what they actually need at the time. Now she's on more savoury than fruit.... (9 months). I find it biologically very interesting!

i didn't give fruit until we were well established on savoury things else all they want is the fruit cos its sweeter.

Fabulous, will try roasting some things, been steaming. She loves feeding herself though not much goes in the mouth, will offer both at the same time and see what she goes for. I need to get one of those rain ponchos so I can stand near while she eats
