Weaning 8month son

We are slowly but surely coming to grips with weaning.
My son now has breakfast, lunch and dinner.
He also has 3 formula bottles.
He's a big boy and was 10lb when he was born.
He's been following the 98th percentile and isn't overweight.
I would just like to know what other parents are feeding their babies around this age (particularly those on higher percentile)
I have constant anxiety that I am overfeeding him but he finishes every last bit of food and Formula.

I think this may be in the wrong topic!

Hi Brodlee you may be better off asking @MNHQ to move this over to the Weaning Topic, you might get a few more replies over there.

You can do this by reporting your own post and asking them to move it it the message box that pops up Smile

Ours was having steamed veg sticks/pieces like carrot/broccoli, cauli, pumpkin, bits of meat cut in to small cubes, fruits of all sorts except for hard types like apple and pears, yoghurt, cheese basically a small bit of anything we ate.

My DS was always above the 91st percentile and ate absolutely everything - still does as a 17 year old. If your DS is constant on the percentile he on then is in my (possibly out dated) opinion absolutely fine. He definitely doesn't need puddings though and don't give him more milk than is recommended. Protein will keep him fuller for longer.

Thanks everyone 😊

If he's always been on the 98th centile, you are not over feeding him Smile

Is he very long too? My DN was born on the 98th centile for weight and height and is now a lovely 6ft at 14. Never been overweight, she's just always been super tall.

It sounds like you are doing fine. If you want some ideas of what to give him, Mumsnet have some great weaning recipes here and the Caroline Walker Trust have produced a great guide which is here.

You probably need from about page 39.

It's a great guide as it not only suggests foods to try but gives recipes and portion sizes Smile

Do you give him much oily fish too? Boys can have oily fish upto 3 times a week and it will be a great source of good fats for him 🙂
