Trying to persuade dd to have her milk from a cup

She was happily drinking water from a tommee tippee cup until I tried giving her her afternoon milk from it. That resulted in a mega tantrum (I eventually caved in and gave her the milk from a bottle, which was probably not the thing to do), and now she won't drink anything from her cup - she just grabs the cup and throws it away from her. Any suggestions on how to encourage her to take her milk from a cup?

I'd try a different cup for milk than you use for water and not give in when she takes none/little from it.

When I did it with ds I only changed one milk feed at a time until he got used to milk from his cup e.g I did the mid-morning one first and then I knew he had other bottles in the rest of the day to make up for the lesser amount he took at that one.

He is now 11 months and has all his milk from a cup. Mind you he will drink out of anything and often pinches his sisters juice out of her sports cup if she leaves it lying in his reach.

I second different cups for milk and water.

Also each time I have tried changing a feed to a cup we have ended up dropping that feed. Which has worked fine for us, but just warning you!

At 15 months DS has two milk feeds a day - his morning one in a cup and only has about 100ml, and his evening milk in a bottle when he will take about 280ml.

My DD was the same. Rigid little things aren't they? I just held out and gave her all drinks in a cup. She is still refusing bedtime milk but after about a week/10 days decided to accept the morning milk in a cup. I was of the view that a few days without drinking milk would not kill her, and I also think that there is no harm in teaching my DD that changes happen and will be ok.
I did try different types of cup but the problem was clearly that she wanted a bottle, so the tantrums continued until she realised that milk in a cup was fine. I'd just stick to my guns if I were you.

She probably could drop the afternoon feed - I think she'd settle for some fruit pieces instead of a bottle if pushed. The only reason she still gets a bottle then is the last time I tried to reduce her fluid intake she got constipated. So we'll try again tomorrow. I have a different cup lurking somewhere - better go and dig it out. Wish me luck!

Try mixing a little juice with water in the cup just to get her interested in it again. And then I would keep at the milk thing.
