Weaning and bottle refusing

We started weaning our reflux baby at 23 1/2 weeks on HV advice. Starting on 1 meal a day of puree an hour after lunch time bottle. She has been having this for just over a week now. We are planning a mix of spoon and finger foods, with finger foods starting from 6 months.

She normally drinks 6oz 5 times a day then sleeps through from 8/8.30 to 7am with the odd wake up and quick resettle. In addition the last week she has had about half a pouch of veg or fruit - sweet potato, carrot or apple.

Tonight before bed raised a new problem. She completely 100% refused her bedtime bottle. Screaming, turning her head away, real tears :( OH offered her puree as she was obviously hungry and she ate pretty much a whole 100g pouch. Tried milk again after and she went mental.

Has anyone else's baby started to go off milk when introducing real food? Hopefully she doesn't wake up hungry in the night tonight! If she does obviously ill suck it up and feed her but she's been off night feeds for so long now im not keen to start them up again.

The pouches are so super sweet she just may prefer them.

If anything I'd cut back on the purée and keep it to once a day. She really does need all of the milk she can get Smile

Hmm, ok regarding the pouches - if starting early (before 6 months) and in general when right at the beginning of weaning it’s quite important to stick to veg and not use fruit. That’s the advice we are still giving out.

Regarding milk - I don’t understand that the nighttime feed is the one dropped. It’s the last feed dropped and not for months yet.

Thanks PP for the replies. Seems that day was a one off. She has drunk her milk as usual since then and carried on having puree lunch in addition to her 5 bottles.
