Do you give your baby snacks?

DS is 10 months old and we have just gone from 4 to 3 bottles a day. I know we probably shut have decreased the bottles sooner but he has always been a grazer, he only ever has 5oz bottles but just more frequently. So the 3 bottles he now has a day I’ve increased to 6oz. He is eating well most of the time. The health visitor advised to replace the bottle we’ve cut out with a snack, which I’ve tried to do mid morning, but he just doesn’t seem hungry enough. Instead he just seems to want a bigger lunch. Does he need a snack at his age or can we just stick with the 3 meals a day?

Is it formula? Don't worry about the grazing...both of mine were grazers and still are. Frequent small meals are fine rather than 3 bigger ones.

He doesn't need a snack if he's not hungry...he will let you know how much he's able to eat by eating all you give him at mealtimes.

Bear in mind they change like the wind though.

I cut back bottles and added in snacks (gradual transition) at 9 months to fit in with nursery's schedule. He's now 13m and has breakfast at 7, snack at 10, lunch at 1, snack at 4 and dinner at 6:30 and is just down to a bottle of milk at 3-4am if he wakes and won't settle back down

Pressed send too soon.

As long as he has some food every 3-4 hours, he's pretty happy!

We dropped to 3 bottles at 10m too and then dropped to two bottles at 11m. We found as we dropped those bottles down, she suddenly finally really took to solid foods. We did that on the advice of the HV.

I think we only added in an afternoon snack once we got rid of that third bottle, so we basically replaced it with a snack. So that was around 11m. She's 19m now and she's been on the same schedule ever since although she sometimes has a little morning snack now too.

My dd is now 13m and has been on 2 bottles a day since about 10m, when she had formula it was 2 6oz bottles a day now she has 2 8oz cows milk a day because she likes it.
She has 3 meals a day but is a big eater at those mealtimes so rarely wants a snack inbetween anyway. Occasionally She’ll have some fruit or a piece of toast if I think she’s hungry but more often than not she waits for her meals. I think she eats really large meals for her age though
