forced weaning

my daughter's father (we've never been a couple) has taken me to court to get access. We have established visits but now he is insisting - through the court - that he has overnight visits. She is 14 months old and breast fed - attachment parenting. The magistrates have said this should be in September - she will probably not be ready then - she has a severe allergy to cows milk. my solicitor is useless and expensive! what do I do next?

Two seems a reasonable age to night wean. Presumably she will be eating a full and varied diet by then, if she isn't already?

What does your dietitian say about weaning from bf? You should be able to just feed before and after an overnight visit at that age so your boobs will be OK.

September is such a long time away. Sounds like this is more about him having her over night than the feeding. If this 'has to happen, I think you need to get your head around it and increase your confidence in her dad looking after her

DD is allergic to cow’s milk. I BF her until 23m when I then moved her onto Oatly (which is heavily fortified with calcium and vit d).

I wouldn’t use BF as the basis for your argument against the overnight stays. Your DD could well self wean before September.

I completely understand you not wanting this to happen, especially subjectively, but BF is not actually a barrier to it happening.

Looking at the longterm, with a dad who wants to build a relationship with his DC, it’s probably the right thing to facilitate this rather than try to block it.
