Unsure whether to wean at 14 weeks!
I’ve been advised by a health visitor to early wean my 12 week old, as he’s has serious issues around food since being born. I breastfed for 3 weeks but he did not take to that at all and was losing far too much weight so switched to formula and have since had no end of issues.
HV says to wean at 17 weeks but I don’t know if he can hold out that long, it seems to be non stop screaming all day every day until he falls to sleep and i get about half an hour of peace.
HELP PLEASE!!

17 weeks is the earliest advised. What are the feeding issues? Reflux, milk intolerance? Are they on meds?

the HV suspects reflux and told us to put him on the anti reflux formula, which caused him more issues, including constipation, and we were advised to take him off the milk by the GP, and prescribed gaviscon to help. this seems to have brought about its own load of problems. i am suspecting that the reflux is actually cows milk protein allergy but feel as though i’m not listened to due to being a young mum. any professional i ask for help seems to ignore what i say to them, and i end up having to take MY mum with me to my LO’s appointments in order to be taken seriously.

Definitely don’t wean that early. Only a paediatrician or paediatric dietitian should be telling you to wean early.
