BLW- how long before they actually eat anything?

I know its all fun etc to begin with but I have the patience of a toddler and just wondered how long it will be before food is actually digested? My baby is picking it up and sometimes food goes near his mouth.

I just wanted a timescale so I can relax!

(My reason for my anxiety is lack of sleep. I know loads of people says theres no link btw food and sleep but my older child started sleeping through when he started on carbs, proteins, fats etc; but he was spoon fed so it was much faster)

DS1 was a puree baby.

DS2 was a BLWer

Both showed no interest in food (quantity-wise) until 10 months, but they were still having breast milk during the night.

DS2 is now nearly 11mo, and prefers his food mashed with a fork when he's hungry. Sleeps heaps better at night if his tea is mashed!

DS2 loves to feed himself from a loaded spoon as well

DS3 is nearly 7 months now and is doing BLW. Some food is actually going in as I find bits of it in his nappy. He really loves weetabix (although that is really messy - thanks aitch or whoever it was who recommended it!!)

I think he's sleeping slightly better but that's because he's sitting up now and trying to move around so I think h'es just more tired!

I've been doing blw with dd2 for about 3 weeks (I think). Some days she gets a very respectable amount of food inside her, yesterday it was baked potato, fishcake and cucumber, she still woke up twice for a bf. The day before she had hardly any food but slept through. There is absolutely no correlation whatsoever between her food and her sleep.

LOL Cod, i don't imagine they're their real names... certainly the reason i didn't use dd's real name was because the idea of putting photos up of her accompanied by her RL name made me a little queasy.
couldn't use dd, because, well, that would have meant an entire gallery of dds and dss. personally i don't understand the people who have all that personal information on their profiles, names and ages of children, even jobs and work locations etc.

so did you and dh never have any nicknames for your babies or were you strictly formal from day one? 'good morning, Cod Minor, would you like to take the maternal breast?'
