Hi! I have a 9 month old. We have been weaning since he was just under 6 months. He's doing well and will eat everything we give him. Most meals I give him are mushed up with lumps in. I've tried him with finger foods and he's great with the baby puff crisps and thin slices of pear. However we have tried toast (cut into soldiers and triangles) and if left to his own devices he nearly always chomps lots in his mouth and then tries so swallow one big lump. You can see he struggles and it takes him by surprise and he has to swallow a few times to make it go down. It terrifies me!!!! Why doesn't he swallow a little bit at a time? I only give him one piece at a time. Is this normal? He's my first and I will admit I'm struggling with the weaning process (he is not), mainly finger foods and the fear of choking. I worry that he will literally put anything in his mouth and even if its too big to swallow instead of spitting it out he will just try to swallow it. Sorry if I sound crazy 🤪 but it's all new to me!
