Ds not interested in weaning

Hi everyone , my ds 6.5 months isn't interested in weaning. I've tried different things, baby rice, rusks, baby jars, home made baby meals puréed whenever I feed him he will swallow a couple of spoonfuls but afterwards spit the rest out and won't open his mouth. Is this normal? I'm part of a weaning/baby led weaning group on Facebook and seeing babies the same age as my LO eating finger type food such as fruit, scrambled egg, eggy bread ect. Do I keep persevering with him and prompting him to eat or could there be something wrong with him? I'm a first time mum and starting to worry.

Is he still having his bottles fine? Teeth coming through? Has his weight stayed ok?

When do you offer him something too? If I offer ds too quick after a bottle he’s not bothered and I’d offer it too close before a bottle he’ll not take it all either. I’d double check with the hv for his weight n see if she has any concerns on her own. They don’t eat much at this age really but my ds prefers things he can hold than the spoon, he just gets bored looks around and has learned to blow raspberries.. but giving him baby puffs to hold and then cucumber/carrot sticks/bread/pasta over boiled so it’s super soft and working our way up, he’s 7months but got his teeth through at 4months and that started him wanting to put things into his mouth once they’d erupted (obviously not food then)

I'm having the same problem. I'm going to start BLW tomorrow as purées just aren't working. I would second pp and go and get your lo weighed, just to be sure. I feel you're pain!

My baby never took to blw - we slowly moved our way through the different stages of puree

He’s still quite young, mine wasn’t that bothered until he was about 7 months from what I remember. I would leave the FB baby comparison group if it’s making you worried, or at least don’t take the show offs on there too seriously.

They just have a taste at this age as they work out what to do with it.Just give a bit and then their normal milk.

My baby is 9.5 months and wasnt that bothered til 8 months I would say and now has half the milk he used to.
For us it changed over night, or felt like it.

Such as pincer grip, one day he just did it. It does seem like they never will tho!

At 6.5 months it’s not normal for a child to have more than a couple of mouthfuls unless they have been weaned from earlier. Don’t stress about it. At this stage the focus should be to introduce him to a variety of tastes and textures not to fill him up - the milk will do that.
