Hi all. It’s probably too early to be worrying but DS is 7 months and I feel like weaning is going backwards and he’s hardly taking any food in at all. I started weaning at 5 months due to reflux, starting off with smooth veg purées and then fruit, all of which he loved! Then at 6 months I started introducing more textured purées and some finger foods alongside for him to have a play with. He has struggled with textures so only has about two spoonfuls before he gets fed up and tries to wriggle out of his chair. I posted about this previously and was advised to forget lumpy purée and just go straight for finger foods which I have tried for two weeks now. he does play with the food but it all gets smushed between his hands of thrown on the floor. If he does take a bite of something then he will chew a little bit but then spits it out. He absolutely loves yogurt and fruit purées. So we’re two months in and unless something is sweet and smooth he just doesn’t want it.
I have tried feeding him little bits off my plate, pasta for example, which he does take an interest in but again after a couple of nibbles he shuts his mouth and won’t have any more. He’s always been fussy with his milk and never seems that hungry, but I’m making sure he’s still having at least 20oz a day. He averages around 23-25oz a day and has never taken any more than that but has always gained weight fairly well, he was born 25th centile and remained there.
Is it too early to be worrying that hardly any food is going in?
