I got to 23 weeks so not too far off the guidelines.

terramum · 13/08/2007 15:41

Stuck to them & then some...DS started at 29 weeks.

Guitargirl · 13/08/2007 17:23

We started weaning at 26 weeks, DD is now 32 weeks and is only now really starting to get into solids.

NoBiggy · 13/08/2007 17:25

23 weeks for first, 25 and a bit for second.

Trinityrhino · 13/08/2007 17:27

dd1 was 27 weeks
dd2 was 26 weeks
dd3 was 26 weeks

and even then its not much food for those first few weeks

ProfYaffle · 13/08/2007 17:29

dd1 about 18 weeks but that was in my pre MN days and I fell for the baby clinic pressure, wish I'd waited now.

dd2 just started at 24 weeks, she's definitely ready and is loving her food already.

Habbibu · 13/08/2007 18:04

27 weeks, I think. And oh lord the mess, and having to remember to get something ready for her dinner... I love weaning her, but am glad I waited!

muppetgirl · 13/08/2007 18:13

ds was 15 weeks (now 3.5)

He was big when he was born and grabbed a chicken sandwich off my plate and stuffed it in his mouth...

am expecting ds2 and will wait to see how we go with him

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 18:27

24 weeks for dd, shes 28 weeks now and loving every mouthful!
I only did it a couple of weeks early so she would be on the way by the time I went back to work.

geekgirl · 13/08/2007 18:29

dd1 was nearly 8 months
dd2 - 6 months
ds - 6.5 months

all bf until they self weaned.

sparklesandwine · 13/08/2007 18:38

i weaned all mine from about 4/5 months and they all took to it very well no problems with any milk or weaning feeds, they are now 9, 5, 2.5 and 1.3 yrs and fit and healthy, i think you have to do what you think is right for you and your child they are only guidelines after all

Jojay · 13/08/2007 19:08

DS was 25 weeks

ramade · 13/08/2007 19:18

It was a struggle but we mannaged to keep exclusive b.feeding untill 6months for our dd. Was a struggle because mum, sister, mother in law, and granny all weaned their babbies at 4 months and gave us loads of hassle and pressure to wean earlier.

BROOKEQUIN · 13/08/2007 19:19

HI
I COULD DO WITH SOME HELP HERE . I HAD PREMATURE TWINS IN APRIL THEY WERE 10 WEEKS EARLY - THEY ARE NOW 19 WEEKS FROM DOB AND SHOWING SOME SIGNS OF WEANING.MY 1 ST BABY I WEANED AT 17 WEEKS AND MY SECOND WAS 16 WEEKS BUT MY TWINS ARE STILL ONLY 13 LBS ! IF I WAIT UNTIL THEIR CORRECTED AGE WE ARE LOOKING AT DECEMBER BEFORE THEY GET WEANED BUT AT BABY CLINICS I GET CONFLICTING ADVISE FROM HEALTH VISITORS. MY TWINS HAVE GOT A HOSPITAL APP IN MID SEPT SO I CAN SPEAK TO THE DOCTORS THEN , BUT WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS BEEN THROUGH A SIMILAR THING WITH PREMATURE BABIES????!!

bristols · 13/08/2007 19:20

Yes, I waited until 6 months. It was something that was really important to me. DS was well and truly ready for it and took to it like a duck to water. I enjoyed the whole thing.

BROOKEQUIN · 13/08/2007 19:25

I THINK YOU ARE ALL REALLY GOOD I WOULD HAVE REALLY STUGGLED TO WAIT UNTIL 6 MTHS WITH MY OLDER CHILDREN BUT THEN THE GUIDELINES WERE 16 WEEKS

ramade · 13/08/2007 19:37

BROOKWIN, there is a bit in the Annabel Karmel (top 100 baby purees) about pre term weaning. Says: its advised that preterm babies intoduced to solids between 4 an 7 months.

ramade · 13/08/2007 19:38

er sorry for bad spelling Brookequin

LieselVentouse · 13/08/2007 22:06
