Slight sunburn on babys feet.

(7months old) Been out at some stages today was covered up and applied sunscreen.

Only noticed after baby was out the bath that her little feet were red. Already had calpol for teething.

Appears well in herself, good happy bouncy mood, eating and drinking normally, last change at 6pm was good wet nappy.

Just what should I do next? Keep an eye out? Dont have any lotion wise to apply so just advice as to what to look out for or what cream to pick up tomorrow. Sleeping now and doesn't appear hot/warm etc just normal self.

TIA

My threads appear to keep being put under weaning. 🙄

Any burn on a baby requires medical attention according to the first aid course i did. It might be an idea to ring 111. How red are they and how much of the feet are burnt?

rhowton · 15/07/2019 21:33

If it's just a little bit of sun burn in a small area. Please don't call 111, you'll be asked to go to A&E and will waste your time and theirs. A burn from water or something hot is different to a bit of sunburn.

Just a bit on the top of her feet. The right one has faded a good bit. Shes not warm or unsettled etc why does it require medical attention?

@rhowton- I was thinking that too. Not acting out of character and drinking well. So didnt feel it warranted a medical professional.

Babies skin is a lot more sensitive than adults. They said to get medical attention if the sunburn is bigger than the palm of the person's hand or any size for a baby? Its probably over cautious for a small red mark. Is it definitely sunburn?

EAIOU · 15/07/2019 22:00

Yes it definitely is. It's not warm anymore either though so I would of thought it was a monitor and see job.

A little bit of sunburn that isnt bothering baby - I'd say it will be fine, I wouldnt be running to a&e unless of course it was badly burnt/bothering her/or she had a temperature or other symptoms, relax & just keep eye on it, I bet it's barely noticable tomorrow x
