Morning

I have bf my 6month old DD and given her fruit or veg purees up until now. I give her cows milk and Oatabix for breakfast on Friday for the first time, she took a few spoonfuls greedily and then started to really fuss so i thought i would leave it. Within a few minutes i noticed that the bottom half of her face was bright red, with really prominent white raised areas. Then she started to choke and then vomit. I was on my own with her and she appeared to be having problems breathing started vomiting again.....I have never been so terrified in my life. I called the on call doc and had her checked over, she is fine now and after about an hour the vomiting stopped.

We are due to see my doc on Monday, but i found this so scary i just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar that could give me any advice?

Thanks in advance xx

DS has a simialr reaction to egg. Started vomitting and I watched a raised rash appear all over his body, like a nettle rash. His ears swelled up and I was so frightened!

We have avoided egg and it has never happened again but I will never forget that night!!

Hope you and your DD are ok now

Same as McDreamys ds, our dd, also egg allergic, rash and her ears swelled up. She was only 8 months old, we used Piriton with GPs permission. Now 15 months old, someone gave her chocolate the other day with peanut butter in, the reaction started again but we gave piriton and it dissapeared.

Good luck!

munchiesmama - post this again under allergies. there are a lot of very informed and knowledgeable mnetters out there - Tatt, Kerrymum etc. my dd2 has an egg allergy and i got a lot of great advice in the past year.

from the sounds of it she had a reaction to dairy and subsequent reactions may be worse. do keep piriton in the house too.

It sounds like an urticaria/hives allergic reaction rash but it could have been the dairy or the gluten in the oats so you would have to try them again separately at some point in the future. Not now though, wait and see what your GP says. I would avoid any of the potential allergens for the time being, stick to puree and rice.
