Puree help

Hi :)

Im looking for some help on pureeing food down for my LB. My LB is 8 and half months and has started taking more of an interest in food. He's really good with wafers or dissolve in the mouth stuff but he has a posterior tongue tie so struggles slightly with lumpier textures.

I want to make my own purees which I tried carrot last night - I used a handheld blender that I was given and it didnt really puree it, just ended up quite lumpy. Im going to buy one and I've been trying to have a look this morning but getting stuck at what's best. I was looking at a food mill but watching videos, the end results look watery - I need something that will make it more of a yogurt consistency. Has anyone got any recommendations? Or advise what is better - blender or food mill etc.

Thank you :)

I made humous in a nutri bullet and it was super smooth. But for now you can use a sieve or tea strainer (both available in Wilkinson's cheaply) and push it through with the back of a spoon

I use a vitamix and depending on the pulse or speed can get different textures. Quite expensive tho if that’s all you’ll be using it for

Did you put additional liquid in with the carrot you blended or just the carrot? I found using a hand blender (or any of my many blending options -maximix processor, jug blender, mill attachment) and just the veg I wanted as a puree pretty unsuccessful, but it went a bit better with liquid added in (water or baby's usual milk) - if you go slowly you can add in until you get the texture you want.

How well did you cook the carrot before blending?

This is how I make carrot purée:

Steam chopped up bits of carrot in a steamer for 10-15 mins (boiling obviously ok too)

Hand blend thoroughly adding a little water if need be and maybe a pinch of mixed herbs.

If you're not having much luck with your hand blender or can't be bothered with it some days does your baby like avocado or banana? They can be mashed with a fork to achieve a consistency similar to purée.
