Dairy-free breakfast ideas?!

Hi, my 9 month old ds has a suspected CMPA so we've been cutting out dairy for a while now.

It's going well, I just find myself stuck in a bit of a rut with breakfast. Does anyone have some inspiration?

He currently has one of the following:
Mashed up banana
Ready brek made with water and fruit purée
Weetabix made with water and fruit purée
Toast with dairy free spread and sometimes a bit of marmite

I've bought some frozen berries to try with his ready brek, any other ideas? My fiancé doesn't want him to try egg until he's 1 so no egg suggestions please. TIA Smile

Can he have oat milk? Mine like porridge with oat milk or the apricot wheats. Crumpets, toast, the occasional dairy free pastry. Beans, eggs. Lots really.

I'd try some alternative milks and see what he likes, that'll help. Lots of cereal options, different fruit, different bread things as suggested above. Why not egg? Unless there's a risk of allergy and you're under a dietician for it, I thought the advice was to introduce allergens early on. Mine loves egg and soldiers (even if the smell makes me heave)

Free from Coco pops with Koko yogurt goes down very well here.

Nut butter? Mashed avocado? Look at Lucy bee coconut milk as it’s higher in fat and has no preservatives or fillers.

And yes I thought advice now was to intro allergens earlier. It’s usualky the egg white which is allergenic so you could try just a soft boiled yolk.

Also pancakes (homemade)

Oh sorry that’s egg

Porridge with mashed banana and peanut butter stirred in is lovely. Just make it with water then mix in.

Avocado on toast?

EvaHarknessRose · 11/05/2019 19:22

I know this doesn’t sound very likely, but believe me and try it, it is actually the stirring that makes porridge creamy, not the milk, it is delicious if you stir vigourously with the WRONG end of the wooden spoon. Add apple puree maybe? (I would do grated apple for myself)

Thank you everyone, some great ideas here!

Porridge fingers or cinnamon bagels with free from spreads?

Can I ask why your partner doesn't want to try eggs until one? What miraculous thing happens on the first birthday? Smile

I don’t eat dairy and use
Soya milk
Goats milk
Coconut milk
Oat milk

My 8 month old has suspected CMPA and he likes the following:
Porridge made with his special formula and then chopped banana, strawberry, blueberry, raspberries or a swirl of peanut butter
Non dairy yoghurts - coconut based ones seems to be preferred - with some chopped banana
Bagel with peanut butter
Crumpet with non dairy spread
Pancakes made with almond milk, oats and mashed banana (no egg)

My 9 month old has CMPA . Breakfast is usually Organix plum and banana porridge made with water, and prune puree mixed in, or peanut butter toast fingers and/or some Tesco or Alpro plain unsweetened soya yoghurt mixed with some pureed fruit (bananas and berries usually).
