Can anyone please offer me some advice. My very lovely, bouncy 6 mo is being weaned and he LOVES food. This morning he slept through the night till 7 and woke up crying so I gave 6oz bottle at 7. Then I gave half a jar of baby porridge at 8.15ish. He’s then sick about 5 times, every time I change him he’s sick again. This goes on and on. Have I given him too much?
Yesterday he only had a 7oz bottle for lunch as we were out and he vomited so in the following hour I got through all my spare clothes and had to go in primark and buy more!
I’m just feeling a bit fed up this morning, I’m constantly changing him he’s always stinking of sick. ☹️

How do you know it's not a bug?

motortroll · 06/05/2019 09:26

It sounds like a bug.

Just stick with milk til he stops vomiting and try the food again. That way you'll know if it's the food or a bug

If you start again and he is still sick stop weaning and call the health visitor for advice. You don't HAVE to wean at 6 months it's a guideline. Babies guts nature at different rates.

I know it’s not a bit because this is not just yesterday and today it’s every day. Tbh he’s better on food it seems like it’s the milk that does it, if I hadn’t given him a bottle first thing (on a normal day he just has half a pot of porridge or similar and a tiny bit of banana crushed up) he probably would have been a bit better. But why would he always be sick when he’s had milk I’ve not changed the brand or anything.

Have I given him too much food? Or too much milk?

Could it be possible Reflux?

chocolateorange93 · 06/05/2019 10:00

How was he when just on milk

fudesina · 06/05/2019 11:08

How long has the vomiting been going on for- days/weeks/months?Has he been sick or only since Starting solids?

What formula do you give?

LittleMG · 06/05/2019 13:20

He’s always been a sicky baby tbf but gradually over time I feel he is sick more and more and now I suppose it’s worse because there is proper food in it. I think it’s just overflow nothing horrible as he seems happy. But why can’t he keep stuff down?

Cows milk allergy? My sister had this on the 60 s and was not diagnosed( eventually self diagnosed in the 80s) . Her son was the same, vomited hugely, diagnosed cows milk allergy. She sit him on baby soya formula ( which I know is not a thing now) and he was fine.

Worth checking out op.

If it is reflux the porridge will probably be too lumpy. My reflux baby couldn't tolerate lumps till about 3 weeks after I introduced a smooth puree

fudesina · 06/05/2019 21:42

I was also going today cows milk allergy. I would see the gp. Allergies can cause reflux and also vomiting.

Reflux usually gets better as they get bigger so if it's worse, there could be an underlying problem
