How much is he taking in?!

My LO is almost 7 months now and we've been weaning since 6 months.

He seems to prefer to feed himself - toast and bananas have been most successful. He will take food off a spoon but wants to take the spoon off me and sort of clasps the end of it into his mouth resulting in most of the food going onto his hands rather than in his mouth. He then spends a looooong time gumming the spoon.

I've started using two spoons in rotation rather than 'fighting' him for it.

Fingers foods such as cubes of cheese get picked up but then intentionally dropped on the floor without making it to his mouth.

I'm trying to stay relaxed but I just don't know if this sounds right. There's so much info out there about types of food to give, but I can't find much about techniques and behaviours to expect.

I feel like if I go down the BLW route exclusively then not much is actually going to be ingested!

Any thoughts or advice welcome Smile

Just keep on doing what you’re doing. My DS was BLW and took til he was about 10/11 months to really get most of the stuff in his mouth. At 7 months it’s just all so new to them.

Aw thank you. That's good to hear.
