my son is nearly 7 months old, eating well (started weaning a few wks ago) thing is how do I get juice and water down him? What I mean is what sort of cup is best to use. I have tried a avent 'magic cup' that he has to suck on, but he does not seem too keen on that. I have resorted to using a normal plastic cup and letting him have little sips. Is there anything out there that is better for him so he can eventually do it on his own iykwim..... help me! thank you xx

I would persevere with the normal cup if you don't mind helping him to start with. google doidy cup too, as they are a bit easier for little ones to use.
If you do want a spouted cup then try the basic tommee tippee one- iut has no valve so it's much easier for baby to use

I would stick with the normal cup as well. When I started offering water to my DS he wasn't particularly interested in his own cup....but when I had a drink in my hand it was another story...so I offered him the odd sip of my water & he seemed more interested in it that way for ages...he still tended to spit it out for a while...but I think it just took him a while to get used to the taste of water. Once he got to like it I gave him normal non valve type beakers and then got a doidy cup when he was 18 months. Really wish I'd got the doidy cup earlier coz after a couple of months using that he graduated really quickly to using a normal open cup on his own...now he drinks out of anything....even normal glassware (which is great for scaring guests with )

DS (10 m tomorrow) is using a doidy, a normal glass, his beaker without the spout bit, a water bottle when we are out... Mainly because I keep forgetting to take his beaker (bad mummy )
He is not yet using it on his own but that is partly to do with the fact that he gets so excited when he sees his water that we do not trust him, he can do that once we have better weather and we sit in the garden (when will that be?)
If he's happy with an open cup I would not change it.
A friend is taking a bottle of water with her and has the doidy which she will then give her dd when they are out.
